My step dad had one of these when he was at West Point. he could only keep it for 3 months before selling it to move on base in Germany. He STILL talks about that car... some day...

I loved all my Zs but the S30 holds a special place in my heart. I really want to build another S30 with a NA L30 stroker to go with my current 240Z.

Side note: The great gas mileage quote made me LOL.

A '70 240 was nearly my first car. Dad talked me out of it because it needed a new clutch. This video doesn't help the 20 years of regret that continues to fester.

That's funny because I thought the same thing. The California guy would right?!

That sounds like an amazing build. I was just dreaming of my perfect Z build. I've never owned one, but I don't think I could look anywhere except in the early examples.

It goes on for that long?!? I need to get a move on finishing forgiving my mom! (The classic " I don't care if its your money, you live by my rules" scenarios... I folded, but am still thankful for what I ended up with) I just sold that car actually....

I try to buy later S30 cars to cut up. If I'm going to make a hot rod from something original it might as well be an original no one liked like the 73 240Z, 260Z, or 280Z. If I restore one original it will be a series 1.

There's a late 70's/early 80's Z, absolutely destroyed, the DFW train passes that makes me wince every time I pass by it... so sad. I'm just looking forward to the day that i have a garage space or shed to do that sort of project in...

I just want my Z back from paint. We keep getting delayed, adding work, etc. I want the thing out of the shop so I can actually drive it again.

Sweet car. That exhaust note is incredible and the wheels and tires finish up the look nicely. Off to ebaymotors I go.

Just did some rounds myself. Reminded myself I'm only two days away from a new car, and even tempting myself would be a move deserving the highest of titles for douchebaggery from my wife and seller. I digress until another day...

The part when he talks about all the older people coming up to him and saying how they had one back in the day, and telling him stories about it.

I get this exact thing when I tell people I have a Spitfire.

First thing my dad said when I showed him the spitfire I'd found was 'I had one of those as a first car. My dad (my grandad) bought me one that had been rolled as a first car and I fixed it up'.

He went on to tell a story about how he and a friend were racing back from somewhere in his little Alfasud and his mate's Sptifire. He took a corner flat, and his mate tried to follow. Unfortunately, he committed the cardinal sin of Spitfire cornering, he bottled it and lifted mid-way through causing the rear suspension to jack up and gain massive positive camber.

He span and crashed into someone's garden. This mate, my dad says, was the jammiest, luckiest sod he'd ever known. The chap who owned the garden he crashed into was himself a Spitfire enthusiast, wandered out and said 'you lifted mid-corner didn't you', and over the next few weeks helped him fix the damage he'd caused his little sports car.

Lucky bastard.

I am currently restoring my '77 S30. I am thinking about buying a Rebello Racing stroked engine.

They are some generic rims that I grabbed to use (converted from 4 lug to 5 lug so needed wheels in a hurry and didn't want to spend a huge amount). They will be getting replaced once I know all the other expensive parts are sorted out.

I am dumping a bunch of random information about the swap and build on a site. Check it out.
